Superheist Tour 2001

Final Word:
As is with the end of every good tour, you start to feel like you are losing your mind in one way or another. I don't know why this is, but I think anyone in a band that is constantly touring and subjecting themselves to constant loud music, and a bit of fun here and there, you actually get so caught up in it. It becomes more than a job, and somewhat a way of life. So, if you the reader are a musician and are in band or thinking of starting a band to tour and travel etc. Here is my advice!! (Im Not Saying Its Any Good Though)
Go For It!!

But if you can``t hack the pace, be prepared to get trampled, because there are so many good bands and musicians out there, you don't know who will be supporting you or who you will be supporting. Chances are, there will be someone doing what you are doing, but ten times better. And if you are someone with a fragile ego, like myself, you will find it a very humbling experience indeed.

Thanks to Superheist and the crew, Hos da Boss, John the Pom, Tony (Barney) Bryan, Matt the Scat.
You made it such an enjoyable tour for us. Hopefuly we can do it again some time soon.
We will be sure on spreading the word about you guys wherever we go, and to you who is reading this, make sure you come to a NoKTuRNL or Superheist gig whenever either group is playing in your area. We promise you wont be disappointed!!

See you all next tour
SoRBZ

P.S. if you are going on tour, and are staying in hotels, and sharing a room with someone.
Heres a handy piece of advice. Always check the bed for contaminants of all sorts, never sleep in an unchecked bed. You never know what a bed could be used for.

Sunday 27th May, Federation Festival, Forum, Melbourne: Later That Day…
With Frankston far behind us, we made our way back to the city in record time to play another show.
I know this is the most quiet gig we have ever plyed. AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never thought we would see the day.
Excellent venue, Great production and awesome system, we played ten times better than what we did in Frankston, and from what people were telling us, we sounded fucken shithot!! I have to disagree though, as we weren`t loud enough. When we are loud and in your face, we definitely sound the best. Its much clearer and you can actually feel what we play, not just be visually entertained.
All in all, a great atmosphere and had a wonderful time catching up with Frank, Bart and everyone else.

Sunday 27th May, 21st Century, Frankston: ( All Ages )
Rock`n`Roll will save my soul. I hope. As this was not the case at this show. I`m sure everyone on the tour was sweating like a hooker in church at this show. The system was a piece of shit. Forget about anything I said about some of the other shows on the tour, this one takes the cake!! I reckon I`ve farted louder than the noise that this piece of crap was putting out. We wont play there again until they upgrade their system, and if we do get booked for a gig there again, be warned!! We Will Blow The Fucker Up!!

Saturday 26th May, Corner Hotel, Richmond:
The last time we played here we fuckin` blew the roof in, well, thought we did!!
This time with the help of our sound engineer NAUT, and his bleeding ears, everyone copped a kick ass set and could not escape the power of us. Let alone the Subs!!

What more can I say? Love the Corner Hotel, definitely one of the best venues in Melbourne, if not the whole country.

As this was the last evening show of the tour, where alcohol would be present, I did my best to make sure everyone was consuming excessive amounts of alcohol on the night with my consistent trips to the bar returning every so often with a carton or two, there was no excuse for anyone backstage to not be drinking.
There is only one explanation for my obsessive drinking on the night. I was drowning my sorrows after being dumped by my Girlfriend, so I had a perfectly good reason for writing myself off that night. Fuck did my head hurt the next day though.

Friday 25th May, Liquid Nightclub, Dandenong:
To many people in Melbourne, Dandenong is not the first place of choice for them to go and see their favourite band, if any. I don't really understand why this is, but from what I can gather from a few of the locals, they think the joint is rough. Obviously they haven`t been up our way, and if they have, they`ve been pretty sheltered as Alice is so much more hardcore!! I cant say anything bad about this show, we had a great time. The owner of Liquid was very Hospitable and gave us 6 fridges full of all kinds of different beverages. Not to mention a wicked chill out spot upstairs. Hopefuly we can come back and do a show sometime soon, and check out the sexy strippers and topless barmaids.
Aaww Yeaaahhh!!

Thursday 24th May, Barwon Club Geelong:
As small as this venue may seem, it still would have to be one of the best places to play at in Geelong. This is the 3rd time we`ve played there and every time we`ve come back we make more friends and fans than the previous times. This says to me that our music is actually starting to reach some people.

I think the only bad thing about doing this venue is that, when you finish playing and its time to pack up, if you are not the headline act, and the place is packed, then loading out is a bit of a prick.! Especially when you have just come off stage sweating and reaking of BO, and outside is colder than a Witches Tit!! But apart from this, the Barwon Club fuckin` ROCKS man. See all you Geelong heads again soon…

Wednesday 23rd May, Churchills, Traralgon:
Not quite the expectation of what I had in mind for Traralgon since the last show we played there. In fact it was such a blowout of a gig, the stage reminded me of the scene in the Blues Bros. Movie, when the band played at Bobs Country Bunker, only this place had no " Chicken Wire ".

Apart from the Gig being a bit of a dud, we played a pretty good show, only to surprise everyone with our rendition of Marley`s " Is This Love ".

Sunday 13th May, Uni Bar, Adelaide: (all ages) Report By Paul Kelly
Not quite the turnout of the previous evening, but still a kick ass show. Great to see that the young ones like the heavier stuff. Its great to play the same place 2 nights in a row, you really get to work on your sound, and get comfortable with the stage and monitor set-up. The Kids reacted really well to the mix of music that you get with 2 of the most rockin' bands in Australia. Not looking forward to the end of the tour as this tour is canin` ass. After this gig the Superheist boys went on to Perth to do couple of shows and we drove over to Melbourne to do pre-production for our Album.

(Represent that shit Paul bag, finally I get a break, and you the reader get a different point of view! SoRBZ )

life on the road........

"hey Sorbz......what are you carrying on about? man there's heaps of room for you to sleep in here..."

Saturday 12th May, Uni Bar, Adelaide: Report By Paul Kelly
About time I played a sold out show, 10 of my friends couldn't even get through the door. 600 punters walked through the door only to get blown back through the door when the music started. The evening started well with Truth Corroded getting up on stage and warming up the crowds ears for the onslaught of NoKTuRNL and then Superheist. The sound was good and the drum fill was even better (which is usually all I'm bothered about when I'm sitting at the back of the stage doing my thang). I was a bit worried when the floor felt like it was going to fall in when the crowd was jumping for Superheist. All in all one of the best gigs of this tour, atmosphere wise. And probably one of the biggest pub shows I've done with the band since I joined.
P.S.thanks to my drum tech for the night Tim Mariner.

Friday 11th May, Uni Bar, Whyalla: (All Ages)
The drive was quite a boring and strung out trip for us. We managed to keep ourselves entertained by playing games of eyespy and having group sing alongs to songs such as:
The wheels on the bus, and Pauls rendition of Over the rainbow…NOT!!!
In fact we `re having a good old sting at the COPS again, as we were fined a fuckin hefty amount for speeding by the local sherriff Prick!!!
Anyway, the gig was great. Excellent response from the all ages crowd.
I got to speak to a few of the local teenagers at Hungry Jacks while I was stuffing my face with filth. Thanks for coming to the gig everyone that DID!! We will come back if you want us. But make sure the system is Bigger next time.

Sunday 6th May, Manly Fishos, Sydney:
Was a bit of a weird one, as although there weren't too many people on the night it`s sometimes hard for bands to actually give it heaps. This was not the case on Sunday night however, all three bands kicked ass to the fullest potential in front of the seldolmly interested crowd. If they didn't get their moneys worth that night, then I don't know what will please them… Maybe if I get naked!!
All in all, had a fuckin great night. Excellent way to finish the NSW leg of the tour with a kick ass show. Also a big thanks to whoever that guy was who gave Craig.T the package, cheers again bro! Hope we will be back soon…
But for now we are off to record a track with Primary, cant wait, so keep an ear out for the new track

Saturday 5th May, Elyssium Festival, Canberra:
I think we`re actualy starting to get a fan base in Canberra. This has been the best gig we have ever played at in Canberra. Excellent System and great crowd response from all.
It was good catchin up with my brother David again, As we had a good piss up and Barbecue at His and Jess`s Place after the show. (Cheers bro, you fry a wicked STEAK!)
Had a great show and awsemomely comfortable time.
Hope we can come back soon!!

Friday 4th May, Newtown RSL, Sydney:
CraigT: Come On Son!!
Crowd: Come On Son!!
Finally we`ve found our call and response gag for the shows.
And you can all join in or else!!
The show was great, had a fucken ball, and all the bands kicked ass.
It was more than a pleasure entertaining the great crowd, thanks everyone for coming,
So far, the best show of the tour.
Paul Bag must have had a good one, although when we got back to the hotel, I don't think he was too impressed with his date!! A date with the porcelain bowl…!@#$%&

Thursday 3rd May, Bar On The Hill, Newcastle Uni:
Its always good after playing at a shit venue, with a shit system, to rock up at the next gig to find that you actually get a soundcheck, have decent monitors and the system fucken boots…
We kicked severe ass at this show, after the big anti climax of what Coffs was not, we managed to once again rip the ears off the punters and get `em jumpin`!!
We got lost upon our arrival into the campus, while driving around aimlessly for what seemed like a year, we bumped into what appeared to be two chemistry students
( This I could tell from their beady little eyes ), who were wheeling a barbecue down the middle of the road. Craig proceeded to drive toward the geeks when he stopped beside them and Naut yelled: " is that a political statement " they gave him a cross eyed stare and a dribble and replied in fright "no"
I met some interesting heads at the Uni, not to mention some hot girls!!
It was good to see Ricko and the rest of the Newy` crew once again, love you all and will be seein you mad fuckers again in the near future as we love playing in the `Castle…

Wednesday 2nd May, Hoey Moey, Coffs Harbour:
Hey Naut, what do ya reckon about the system supplied at this one??
Yes, the system was that fucked, you couldn't even amplify a fart through it!!
No joke, the monitors may as well have been a fuckin ghettoblaster, couldn't hear jack shit!!!
Although the sound was weak, it still didn`t stop us from blowin the place up!!
Good work Naut Arse!
Sunday 29th April, Albert Waterways Community Centre, Surfers Paradise:
(ALL AGES)
There was very little inspiration for everyone at this gig as it was a dud turnout.
I think that the people that were there weren`t to interested in the support acts, because when Supereist came on, the few people that were there, finally got off their arses and came down the front.
All in all we played exceptionally well, but we couldn`t help to notice the deafining silence which was coming from the MASSIVE audience ( NOT )!!
Saturday 28th April, Railway Hotel, Brisbane:
Great support act, Subsyde are the best thing that's coming out of the Brisbane scene at the moment, I reckon!!! ( Thanks for the CD guys, I love it )!!!
And the crowd was fantastic, everyone there was going off!!!
There were many positive aspects regarding this show even though being one of the crappiest venues in Brisbane (no offence), but ask any band that has played there and I am sure that you will get the same response from everyone:
:ITS TOO FUCKIN HOT
:No water in the rider if your lucky to get one at all!!!
:The room sounds like you`re playing inside a reverb tank, cant hear jack shit in monitors…
Friday 27th April, Rose and Crown, Surfers Paradise:
Finally a show actually worth writing about!!!
This venue isn`t very big, but when it fills up like it did that night, it gets CHOKKA`S.
No support acts this time but that didn`t matter as when NoKTuRNL opens a show, you better get the fuck on down the front…
We played exceptionally well that night, apart from a few technical glitches, with the help of Craig Feltis (JESTER, he`s our #1 crew man) we were back in fine form indeed, shit, need I say anymore??
COME ON SON!!!
Thursday 26th April, QUT Gardens Point Campus:
This was the first DUD show of the tour, bugger all people and humidity factor INFINITY!!!
PA was a bit of a shocker, but that's what you get when purchasing anything with !@# written on it (Name withheld for certain reasons, don't want to make anyone cry)!!!
All in all, not a bad performance from the bands.
One of the security guards was acting like a chop, but that didn`t phase me in the slightest, as that prick will probably still be there next time we come back. I just hope he gets rostered to the front of the stage so I can spit on him. (fuckin` monkey)!!
Wednesday 25th April, Great Northern Byron Bay:
The first show of the tour and we kicked shit in!!
Didn`t get a sound check, as usual, but that has never stopped us from blasting the audience with the goods!!
Thanks to Naut arse, we have a constant LOUD sound that delivers the power and clarity of which our music deserves…
I couldn't help to notice that the EPA`s lights registering in the RED for the most of the show ( Good Shit )
Those Anal pricks at the EPA should stop wasting their time, and focus on a matter of greater importance!!
Monday 23rd April ( Leaving Melbourne ):
There is simply nothing better than starting a rock`n`roll tour without having something fuck up. Like when your tour bus breaks down 200 km out of home base…
But, thanks to the generosity of the old dude at Natrad Wangarrata, we were on our way to pick up our hire van in no time.
Thanks for the lift Old Man, and hope your son likes the posters!!
